Mid-America Events & Expos, located in Burnsville, produces exciting corporate events and consumer expos such as the Mid-America Remodeling & Design Expo, Seniors Expo, Body Mind Life Expo, Seniors Spring Show and more.
We offer you three ways to make money selling for our expos: selling exhibit booth space, sponsorship packages and ad space in our Mid-America Lifestyle magazine. This is a job for people who get their energy from talking to other people. It requires creativity and the ability to think on your feet. While our shows have specific themes, there is plenty of latitude for creative selling in this job. Some rewarding parts of the job are getting to know and deal with a variety of business people as you help them make arrangements to exhibit at the shows. This is a job where you will see the tangible results of your work as the events unfold, and because of our commission structure, tangible results in your income as well.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop and qualify leads and prospects
- Discover needs and goals of prospect and build strong relationships
- Make verbal and written presentations to prospects
- Become an expert in our business
- Sell all services
- Reach company and personal sales goals
EXPECTATIONS:
- Ability to find and cultivate new business
- Work well with tight and overlapping deadlines
- Ability to work independently as well as in partnership with a small, cross-functional team
- Ability to work in a creative environment, while still being able to take direction from managers
- Ability to work on several accounts at a time
- Proven persuasive, leadership, initiative and communication skills necessary for success
- Great attitude and team player mentality

- Sense of urgency - must meet deadlines
REQUIREMENTS:
- 15-20 hours per week during regular business hours
- Currently pursuing a degree in Sales, Marketing or other related field
- Internships must be taken for college credit

Our internship program is designed to provide students with opportunities to learn more about their fields of interest and gain valuable experience in the industry. Internships are offered on an unpaid basis, and must be taken for credit.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Organization of client database
- Call out to clients and prospects to verify company information
- Assist in the development of collateral material
- Assist in the conducting of marketing research and organizing results into reports
- Web marketing
- Provide input and analysis of marketing strategy and planning
EXPECTATIONS:
- Well-organized with the ability to work on several projects at the same time
- Good writing and editing skills a plus
- Knowledge of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint helpful
- Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities
- Ability to work quickly and accurately with great attention to detail and an eye for consistency
