I’d like to tell you about an opportunity that may be of interest to you. I have four nice quiet offices and I would like to fill them with four persuasive writers; but there’s a catch—I don’t have any work for you…or do I?
 
My name is Lonny Kocina and I own Kocina Branding & Marketing Companies.
 
Right before the economy went south, I moved our internet department out of four small offices and into six larger offices on the other side of the building. I anticipated that I would fill those offices in short order with additional hires for our PR or event businesses. Like most people, I was caught off guard by the rapid decline in business so those offices have been sitting empty.
 
The other day, I had two related topics on my mind; How could I fill those offices and how could I create jobs for people who don’t have them?
 
It occurred to me that within our extensive client and prospect database, there is probably enough writing work to keep several writers busy. 
 
So I was thinking; maybe there are some ambitions writers out there who would like to try and flush some writing projects out of our databases.
 
I don’t have the details completely figured out, but I would like to start interviewing some writers and see if we can creatively find a job for you here.
 
The money would be skinny at first so if you need a big salary, you’ll need to look somewhere else. But if you are in a position where you can weather a few lean months, maybe this could turn into a nice career writing job for you.

Expo Sales Internship
Mid-America Events and Expos
DESCRIPTION:
Mid-America Events & Expos, located in Burnsville, produces exciting corporate events and consumer expos such as the Girlfriends Expo, Seniors Expo, Body Mind Life Expo, Seniors Spring Show and more.
 
This is a job for people who get their energy from talking to other people. It requires creativity and the ability to think on your feet. While our shows have specific themes, there is plenty of latitude for creative selling in this job. Some rewarding parts of the job are getting to know and deal with a variety of business people as you help them make arrangements to exhibit at the shows. This is a job where you will see the tangible results of your work as the events unfold, and because of our commission structure, tangible results in your income as well. 
 
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Develop and qualify leads and prospects
  • Discover needs and goals of prospect and build strong relationships
  • Make verbal and written presentations to prospects
  • Become an expert in our business
  • Sell all services
  • Reach company and personal sales goals
 
EXPECTATIONS:
  • Ability to find and cultivate new business
  • Work well with tight and overlapping deadlines
  • Ability to work independently as well as in partnership with a small, cross-functional team
  • Ability to work in a creative environment, while still being able to take direction from managers
  • Ability to work on several accounts at a time
  • Proven persuasive, leadership, initiative and communication skills necessary for success
  • Great attitude and team player mentality
  • Sense of humor
  • Sense of urgency - must meet deadlines
 
REQUIREMENTS:
  • 15-20 hours per week during regular business hours
  • Currently pursuing a degree in Sales, Marketing or other related field
  • Internships must be taken for college credit
  • Must be able to provide documents from school indicating credit
  • Computer skills – Microsoft office, Outlook
