They're Putting Rhythm into Retirement
This year's Seniors Expo™ will be lovingly dedicated to the memory of Marion Nichols, long time president of The "B"zz who passed away in August. Nichols performed during each day of every Seniors Expo™ since its inception. She also distributed tickets to seniors in the community, and marched in local parades to draw awareness to the expo.
People just can't help falling in love with the "B"zz. This popular seniors dance troupe will be back by overwhelming demand at the 2005 Senior's Expo™, running September 19-20 at Mystic Lake Casino Hotel.
Through Nichols' years of dedicated leadership, The "B"zz have given back to the community in so many ways: performing at nursing homes, hospitals and hospices as well as entertaining people of all ages at community events. Nichols was always the consummate professional on stage, once even giving an hour-long performance to just a handful of people remaining at a local fire muster.
The "B"zz (pronounced Bees) is a benevolent dance troupe comprised of retired women whose 300+ repertoire ranges from country line dancing to the samba.
In addition to performing, these vivacious ladies eagerly teach audience members of all ages a few of their signature dance moves. The group was invited back to the Seniors Expo™ following rave reviews of their performances for the last three years.
"People watching us realize there is nothing wrong with having fun," Nichols once said. "We like to show seniors that no matter what they want to do - whether it's dancing or rollerblading -- now is the time to do it!" She added, "I can't think of anything we're too old to do. None of us had dance lessons as kids. We all got married and raised a family. Now it's our time."
The goal of the Seniors Expo™ is to help seniors get more fun and excitement out of retirement, just as the "B"zz have always done. Dancing with the "B"zz helps these women keep in shape physically and mentally. They enjoy the exercise, their ability to entertain, and their involvement with audiences of all ages. The "B"zz stay busy throughout the year performing at local festivals, parades and the Mall of America, among other venues. They have even served as Grand Marshals of Edina's Fourth of July parade.
The "B"zz will kick up their heels both days of the Seniors Expo™, an event that also will showcase up to 200 exhibitors, and two stages of speakers, demonstrations and fun entertainment for the entire family.
Seniors Expo™ sponsors include Medica, Ebenezer, Good Age as well as Channels 5 and 45.
