While You Were Out's Jason Cameron to help popular home show celebrate its new name
Combine aisle after aisle of creative home improvement ideas with nonstop seminars, great entertainment and lots of product giveaways, and you have just some of the appeal behind the success of the annual Women's Home Expo™. Throw in how-to demonstrations and autograph signings by hunky Jason Cameron, the carpenter featured on TLC's While You Were Out, and you've got a show designed to give people of all ages something fun and interesting to do.
"We expect to see many groups of women attending since the show does coincide with the Minnesota hunting opener," says show producer Robin Kocina, president of Mid-America Events & Expos, Inc. "This show is a fun excursion, and often is a springboard to spending a full day or weekend downtown."
"People love it because it has something for every budget and lifestyle ," says Kocina of the Women's Home Expo™ which was formerly called the Women's Home & Interior Design Expo™. "We're not changing the show, just simplifying it's name. It was a mouthful, and since the public and our exhibitors was shortening it anyway, we decided to make it official!" says Kocina.
The third annual Women's Home Expo™, to be held November 4-6, 2005, draws thousands of women (and men) to the Minneapolis Convention Center to see how-to seminars conducted by nationally known home improvement celebrities and shop among the hundreds of participating exhibitors. Plus there are always lots of drawings and giveaways, as well as quality entertainment.
"It always encompasses more than just interior design, although that is an important component," Kocina adds. "For example, the show also features a number of great ideas for garage organization, landscape design, appliances, and other services that contribute to making your home more functional as well as more attractive. It's quickly become bigger than what we anticipated."
This year's show will feature special appearances by Jason Cameron, the hunky new carpenter on TLC's While You Were Out. Cameron will be at the show each day to conduct how-to demonstrations and sign autographs for fans. A native of Toledo, Ohio, Cameron is an outdoorsman and sportsman. He attended Northern Michigan University, and worked as a carpenter part-time during school. He also is certified as a personal trainer, specializing in strength and conditioning.
Cameron moved to New York to pursue acting in 1999, and shortly returned to carpentry and general contracting to make ends meet and utilize his skills. He also worked as a fitness model and spokesman for Men's Health Magazine, GQ, Maxim, and Muscle Media, and on the small screen with Sex and the City, Guiding Light and All My Children.
Sponsors for the 2005 Women's Home Expo™ include SimonDelivers, English Heritage, FM 107; Floors Galore and More, Channels 5 and 45. Owens Corning Basement Finishing Systems, Bullfrog Spas and Wind & Water Spa Galleries.
