FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Ready to feel more fulfilled and welcome new successes into your life?
Dr. Verna Cornelia Price will give you some of the tools you'll need to get started at the Body Life Expo™

Do you believe you have the power to change your life for the better? Dr. Verna Cornelia Price does. A nationally recognized motivational speaker, Dr. Price believes that everyone can be extraordinarily successful when they learn to tap into their personal power. What’s more, she has developed the tools to help you take immediate steps toward a more fulfilling life.
Dr. Price will lead a one-hour seminar, The Power of You!, at the upcoming Body Mind Life Expo™, to be held March 4-5, 2006 at the Minneapolis Convention Center (www.101expos.com). The seminar, which will be on Saturday at 10 a.m., will be based on her book, The Power of People: Four Kinds of People Who Can Change Your Life.

"For too long, women in particular have given away our personal power. It’s time to take it back, to understand that you are extraordinarily powerful," says Dr. Price. Although her seminar is geared to both genders she explains that unlike women, most men are taught to tap into their personal power from an early age.

"We have mixed up what power really is. We have believed what society has told us that some people have power and that some don’t. That if you don’t have the right position, or the right amount of money, then you don’t have power. In reality, everyone has power. And when you learn to use it, there are two natural outcomes:
  1. You have a whole new sense of who you are. You feel fulfilled.
  2. Your life begins to change. You begin to see new successes in your life."
Dr. Price says that using your personal power involves the following strategies:
  • Understand how you are currently allowing the people around you to use the power in your life. "People can play the roles of adders, subtractors, multipliers or dividers." A subtractor, for example, takes away your power.
  • Create an action plan for getting the subtractors and dividers out of your life, and for attracting adders and multipliers into your life. "Your life begins to change when the scenery changes. Changing the people and/or their attitudes, increases your power source."
  • Learn how you are using your own personal power. "Are you being a subtractor to yourself? If so, you need to learn how to become an adder."
For example, Dr. Price says you may be acting as a subtractor to yourself if you constantly waste time. "How much time do you spend exercising versus sitting in front of the TV? How you use your time will eventually equal the quality of life you have," she says.

To become an adder to yourself, she suggests learning to restructure your time. "Put into your life the kind of life you want to have. If you want to be physically fit, then structure fitness into your life."

She adds that women tend to subtract their power through their own words. "How often do you hear women say, "Oh, I can never get that right!" or "I’m so (fill in the blank)!" The adder strategy is to speak only what you want, and only what you want to become. We’ve been teaching these principles to men for a long time. Women are just catching up."

Dr. Price also says there is a way to keep from being sucked into the drama created by the subtractors in your life. "Subtractors want their drama to be your drama. For women, it’s time for us to stop this craziness. Once people get it, once they start putting these principles in place and taking these strategies to heart, they change."
