FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Are you one of America’s new senior generation?
6th annual Seniors Expo targets today’s older Americans who are shattering stereotypes and re-defining life after age 60

If you’re part of the new senior generation, you may have been around for more than six decades but you’re certainly not acting old! Today’s older Americans appear to have taken advice from another well-known and active senior: Ben Franklin. They are -- for the most part -- healthier, wealthier and wiser (okay, let’s make that better educated). Bottom line: the new seniors aren’t about to let something as insignificant as their age keep them from enjoying life.

The Seniors Expo has also been around a long time. Like the new seniors who flock to this show each year, it just keeps getting better. Now in its sixth year, this year’s Seniors Expo will be held September 25-26 at Mystic Lake Casino Hotel. And it promises to be a hub of activity.

“This show continues to evolve to meet the needs of today’s seniors. The senior population is expected to double in size within the next 25 years. According to the U.S. Census Bureau by the year 2030, almost one out of every five Americans -- some 72 million people -- will be 65 years or older,” says Robin Kocina, president of Mid-America Events & Expos, Inc. which produces the Seniors Expo.

“When we talk with seniors, they tell us they aren’t interested in slowing down any time soon. They want to travel and challenge themselves with new adventures. They are willing to do whatever it takes to remain positive, active and productive.”

Those attending this year’s Seniors Expo should come prepared to laugh, learn, shop and be entertained.
  • Laugh: When it comes to tickling the aging funny bone, no one does it better than Dr. Dale Anderson, whose reverse aging prescription has everyone in stitches. Also making a return appearance is Kevin Hall, whose interactive comedy, music and magic show is always a crowd favorite.
  • Learn: From Medicare health plans, new exercise moves and the latest in hearing aids to discovering the latest ways to cope with diabetes, this year’s free seminars provide valuable information to seniors and caregivers. Speakers will stress how independence, positive attitude and knowledge can be used as tools for a successful future.
  • Shop: Hundreds of products and services will be displayed at this year’s Seniors Expo. Fashion, travel, health, financial services and more are all represented. Plus many exhibitors will give away gifts and hold drawings for valuable merchandise.
  • Be entertained:  Enjoy the annual Ms. Senior Minnesota Pageant, tap your toes as the Chanhassen Dinner Theatres presents Singin’ in the Rain musical favorites, and be there when the expo producers present this year’s winners of the Seniors Lifelong Dream Contest.

Senior admission is $6 at the door or $3 with the ½ price coupon available on the Mid-America Events & Expos Web site: www.101expos.com. Plenty of free parking is available.
