With today's prices and your dwindling bank account, can you afford to stay retired?
This year's Seniors Expo will feature a free seminar, designed specifically for seniors, to help you discover your options and take the first step forward. Seniors have been some of the hardest hit since the stock market plummeted and we slid into an economic recession. Whether you've lost your job but aren't ready to retire, or you've watched your retirement savings dwindle, you may be worried about how to get back into the workforce. Even more important this time around: you'd love to focus your energies on something that's meaningful to you. Help is on the way! "We've been serving seniors for nearly a decade," says Robin Kocina, President of Mid-America Events & Expos, producers of the Seniors Expo (www.101expos.com). "Our goal is to bring them beneficial information that will enable them to live more active, fulfilling lives. This year, we knew it was important to help people make transitions that will help them deal with the economic realities. We also wanted to give them tools that would help them find their passion so that they may truly enjoy this stage of their lives." As a result, this year's Seniors Expo, to be held September 16-17 at Treasure Island Resort & Casino, will feature a special seminar called Finding Work that Works. Designed and presented specifically for senior women and men by WomenVenture, the seminar will address some of the issues you are probably experiencing including: how to determine what you'd really enjoy doing, how to get started on that small business idea that's been in the back of your mind for a long time, or even what your ideal volunteer opportunity might be. "Sometimes it's hard to figure out what your new direction should be," comments Christine Huff, Career and Work Services Manager for WomenVenture. "Whether there's something you've always wanted to try doing, or you need help figuring out where you want to focus your energies, we can help you uncover your options and determine how to move forward." Huff says she feels honored to work with older Americans. "To be able to empower people to go into a field of their choosing, and to show them there are options out there, is incredibly uplifting for me and for WomenVenture." Those interested in reserving a seat at this free seminar, which will be held on Thursday September 17th during the Seniors Expo, should call Heather at 612-798-7237 or email expos@101expos.com. Please provide your name, city and telephone number. After the seminar, you can continue learning through WomenVenture's many classes including the series, Career and Life Planning for Women and Career Consulting.
