FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
This year's gathering of Midwestern seniors will be more informative and fun than ever before!
From updates that will impact their lives, to joining in the dancing and pageantry, this year's Seniors Expo is packed with activities that will draw participants from throughout Minnesota and the surrounding states.

With the senior population getting larger by the day, now more than ever there is a huge need for Midwestern seniors, and those approaching retirement age, to have one place to gather to learn more about the issues that impact their lives, get their questions answered by helpful experts, and most important: to have a great deal of fun while they're at it.

The Seniors Expo (www.101expos.com) has been serving area seniors for nine years. This year's event, taking place at Treasure Island Resort & Casino on September 16-17, promises to be the best yet because show producers are reaching out not only to current retirees but also to those in their 50s and 60s who are planning for the next stage of their lives.

"We're seeing a shift in the demographics of the people who attend this show to include more people who are five to 10 years away from retirement age," confirms Robin Kocina, President of Mid-America Events & Expos, which produces the event. "This year's event will be filled with interesting seminars and lots of great entertainment aimed at both age groups."

At the 2009 Seniors Expo, people will:

  • Learn more about their 2010 Medicare options.
  • Enjoy admission to the Ms. Senior Minnesota Pageant, taking place in conjunction with the expo. The current queen, Constance Gabriel, will relinquish her crown to another talented woman who has reached the ‘age of elegance.'
  • Have a chance to attend a special seminar called Finding Work that Works. Designed and presented specifically for senior women and men by WomenVenture, the seminar will address some of the issues they are probably experiencing including: how to determine what they'd really enjoy doing, how to get started on that small business idea that's been in the back of their minds for a long time, or even what their ideal volunteer opportunity might be.
  • Get their toes tapping to exciting dance performances by The "B"zz, a senior dance troupe that is always a crowd favorite.
  • Participate in free seminars on anti-aging, looking good and feeling great.
  • Put their names in for exciting prize drawings.
  • Enjoy dancing, singing and plenty of surprises all within the high energy surroundings of one of Minnesota's most beautiful, newly-remodeled casino hotels.

Benefiting Breast Cancer Education and Support Services
Fifty percent of ticket sales for this and all other 2009 shows produced by Mid-America Events & Expos, a woman-owned company, will be donated to the Breast Cancer Awareness Association. The organization will also be given a booth at each event. Mid-America's support for this cause is personal. In 2007, a beloved staff member lost her long and courageous battle with breast cancer; just a few months later another staff member was diagnosed with an advanced form of the disease and has just completed treatment.

The Seniors Expo is sponsored by KLBB, Treasure Island Resort & Casino, Humana, 5 Eyewitness News, Tourco Firstline Tours, Good Age, Best of Times, and Minnesota Seniors Online.
