Every seven seconds, an American turns 50 Midwest seniors continue to turn to this one resource for information to help them live richer, fuller lives It's been called the 'graying of America.' Every seven seconds, a member of America's baby boomer generation turns the big 5-0. If they haven't done so already, most adults who reach that milestone start planning for their retirement. And for those already retired, many begin to look at their lives and ask, "What now?" For four consecutive years, the Seniors Expo™ has responded to those needs and more. Each year, thousands attend the two-day event to hear valuable seminars and to explore aisle after aisle of exhibits featuring products and services geared specifically to their needs. And it's all here: from vacation clubs to pharmacy services, adult day care providers to investment counselors. To keep things fun, there's also nonstop, lively entertainment. This year's Seniors Expo™ will be held September 27-28 at Mystic Lake Casino in Prior Lake. "The mature market is credited with half of all discretionary spending in the U.S.," says Robin Kocina, president of Mid-America Events & Expos that produces the event. "The 55-plus market is growing six times faster than the rest of the population, and is finally beginning to get the recognition it deserves." New this year will be a performance by Allan Lotsberg's New Fogey Follies. The show, comprised of dancing, singing and Vaudeville comedy sketches, is sure to get everyone's toes tapping and hands clapping. Returning to the line-up is The "B"zz, a non-profit dance troupe comprised of retired women whose median age is 73. Their performance vibrates the room with dances from country line dancing to the samba. The crowd always has a blast watching these ladies perform. And back for its third year is the Ms. Minnesota Senior America Pageant. The Pageant celebrates women ages 60 and above, and involves a talent demonstration and evening gown competition, as well as interviews with the judges. Talents often range from singing, dancing or playing a musical instrument to reciting a favorite poem. Contestants will also describe their philosophy of life for the Seniors Expo™ audience. "There is always a variety of fun things to see and do at the show," says Kocina. "People often come for the entire day because they can't fit it all into just a few hours. Plus, they can take time out to enjoy Mystic Lake Casino, then come back into the Seniors Expo™ just by showing us their Official Show Bag." Some of the popular topics explored during the Seniors Expo™ include:
The Seniors Expo™ is produced by Mid-America Events & Expos, Inc., which also produces the Body Mind Life Expo™, and the Women's Home & Interior Design Expo™.
