You are now entering the baby boomer time warp
Explore what made boomers great in their youth, and learn why they are now better than ever The nation's 76 million baby boomers came of age as a world-changing subculture. As adults, their spending drove the longest sustained economic boom in our history. They took part in social revolutions and technical evolutions. Is it any wonder that baby boomers still embrace the quality of life issues that have defined their generation? This year thousands of baby boomers -- and boomer wannabes -- will descend on the Minneapolis Convention Center to celebrate their remarkable youths and discover resources for making their lives better than ever. The second annual baby boomer Expo™ is coming to Twin Cities October 24-25. Remembering what made boomers unique The '50s through '80s will be celebrated by dancers rocking to the hits of each decade. The public will be invited to vote on their favorite classic car on display in the Expo hall. And there will be a living room vignette from each decade. Back by popular demand is the wild and raucous Hippie Triathlon: a two-day audience participation event hosted by former Minnesota Viking "Benchwarmer" Bob Lurtsema and KSTP personality Rusty Gatenby. The fun begins as teams attempt to squeeze into a VW Beetle and then a phone booth. A third mystery game will help determine the winners. And giving them resources for the future The event will feature hundreds of shopping and life-enhancing ideas, as well as presentations on topics ranging from money management to vacation ideas. Luxury items like ATVs, fancy cars, boats and other 'toys' also will be on exhibit and available for purchase. This is a home show, travel show, a classic car show and healthy living show all in one. Attendees also will have the opportunity to win prizes galore including a gift basket valued at more than $1,000 or airfare for two to any Sun Country Airlines domestic destination! The show hours are Saturday, October 24 from noon to 9 p.m., and Sunday October 25 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Admission is $6 at the door, and free for those 17 and younger.
