What's so good about getting older?
Every day nearly 6,000 Americans celebrate their 65th birthday. Unlike past generations, most are not content with the idea of an idle retirement. The majority of today's older Americans are self-sufficient, middle class consumers with more assets than their younger counterparts. And they've got their minds focused firmly on all they can do now that they've reached this stage in their lives.
Minnesota seniors sure wouldn't mind living to be 100. They take responsibility for their health and happiness. Their lives revolve around staying active, exploring their world, and having fun. If this profile fits you, or you know someone like this, you'll want to discover new things to do and see at the Seniors Spring Show™, to be held April 4-5 2005 at Mystic Lake Casino Hotel, which is produced specifically for Minnesota's active seniors.
Attendees who arrive soon after the expo opens will be able to enjoy a morning stretch with the SilverSneakers® group exercise class. Hiking and backpacking expert Jeff Carver will be on hand to give seniors advice on enjoying the Twin Cities' many trails and nature paths, as well as the national park system.
Anyone - young and old - you ever wanted to learn a few new dance moves will want to attend a performance by the "B"zz, a benevolent dance troupe comprised of retired women who eagerly teach audience members of all ages a few of their signature dance steps.
And, knowing that the quickest and most inexpensive face lift is a smile, seniors will enjoy the fun and frivolity of Kevin Hall's Halls of Magic, and tap their toes to the Songs that Won the War as performed by Allan Lotsberg's New Fogey Follies.
Love to watch those personal makeover TV shows? Then you'll want to meet Cynthia Lunceford, who underwent a physical transformation on ABC's Extreme Makeover and got an unexpected 'miracle' in the process. "It doesn't matter what age you are, if you can't hear well you are missing a big part of life," says Lunceford, who says the Senso Diva digital hearing aids she received as part of her makeover improved every aspect of her life. Lunceford will be at the show both days to deliver her powerful and inspirational message.
Attendees also will be able to explore as many as 170 exhibits featuring products and services geared specifically to seniors and caregivers.
